STUDY FOR WIND POWER ESTIMATION FOR A POTENTIAL WIND POWER PLANT IN THE EASTERN PART OF NORTH MACEDONIA
STUDY FOR WIND POWER ESTIMATION FOR A POTENTIAL WIND POWER PLANT IN THE EASTERN PART OF NORTH MACEDONIA
The primary objective of the study was to provide a preliminary evaluation of the site’s suitability for wind energy generation, which will inform subsequent project development activities.
The scope of work encompasses several key areas of analysis:
Task 1: Identifying and mapping wind energy potential of proposed site
Task 2: Microscale wind flow modelling and preliminary annual energy production using Windfarmer and WAsP
- analyze a microscale to include micro wind flow effects at the site
- defining wind resource at each turbine location
Task 3: Layout Optimization and Micrositing
- Analyzing few layout scenarios considering one type of WTG
- Optimization of the layout to maximize energy production and minimize wake effects
Task 4: Preliminary Energy Yield Assessment of Wind Resource
- Vertical wind profile assessment in order to extrapolate mean wind speed from measured height to hub height.
- Wind flow modeling for extrapolating wind distribution at the measurement point to the turbine positions.
- Calculation of the internal wakes from Windfarmer and assumptions/calculations for other loss mechanisms.
