CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR PREPARATION OF FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR 47 MWp DC PV PP PHOTONICA AND APPLICATION FOR CONNECTION ON THE TRANSMISSION GRID

The main objective of the services was performing a Feasibility Study related to the development of PV Plant in Armatush area in North Macedonia. The installed power of the plant is 47.2 MWp DC/ 35.5 MWp AC MWp connected to the transmission system by 110 kV overhead line (OHTL).

The scope of work of this assignment includes the following tasks:

Site visit and preparation of Location Assessment:

  • Land status/ Ownership
  • Topography of the location
  • Site characteristics assessment
  • Infrastructure characteristics of the location
  • Solar irradiation potential and other meteorological data analysis
  • Solar resource and energy yield assessment
  • Global horizontal irradiation (GHI)
  • Diffuse horizontal irradiation (DHI)
  • Temperature (TEMP) and wind speed (WS)

Feasibility Studies included the following subjects for calculation and elaboration:

  • Solar Plant configuration
  • Brief review of recent solar module technologies Selection of the best solar module technology for the Solar Plant (based on cost/benefit analysis of the site-specific factors)
  • Review of available inverters’ technologies and other parts of the Solar Plant balance of system (“BoS”), with a focus on minimizing operation and maintenance (“O&M”) costs, minimizing power losses, improving the plant availability and lifetime, etc. Selection of the best inverter technology for the Solar Plant, with a selection of other parts of the BoS (based on cost/benefit analysis of the site-specific factors),
  • Review of available solar tracking technologies, with a proposal for (or against) the implementation of a particular tracking system for the Solar Plant. In the case of adopting the tracking system, determination of the best tracking technology (based on cost/benefit analysis),
  • Review of available energy storage systems and technologies, with a proposal for (or against) the implementation of the energy storage system for the Solar Plant.
  • Fundamental analysis and calculations of input data
  • Solar energy potential analysis with an estimation of the solar irradiance
  • Calculation of pitch on horizontal and tilted terrains
  • Determination of optimal azimuth and inclination angle
  • Analysis and decision on tracking systems and determination of the tracking type (if any)
  • Analysis of other decisive climate factors (ambient temperature, rain, snow, hail, fog, wind, and others)
  • Assessment of site topological, infrastructural and other characteristics
  • Determination of the site boundaries with the site access.
  • Determination of concept PV plant layout and topology
  • Determination of the Solar Plant installed power
  • Calculation of energy yield for the project operating lifetime including system losses, plant performance ratio, etc.
  • Single-line diagrams.
  • Preliminary BoQ and BoM
  • Solar Plant operating and maintenance strategy
  • Grid connection and integration
  • Permitting according to Macedonian legislation
  • Techno-economic analysis
  • Results of the financial analysis
  • Sensitivity and Risk Analysis Models
  • Support and Assistance in the preparation of the Application for the connection of the PV Plant to the transmission network, as well as negotiations during the preparation of the analysis and study by MEPSO for providing the most optimal economical and technical solution for grid connection point
