PREPARATION OF FEASIBILITY STUDY AND IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECT – MODERNIZATION OF TPP OSLOMEJ
The thermal power plant Oslomej (TPP Oslomej) is one of the two main thermal power generation sites of JSC Macedonian Power Plants (ELEM). It uses as fuel lignite from the local mine Oslomej-Zapad as main fuel and the locally available reserves will not last much longer. Considering that TPP Oslomej provides approximately 10% of the Macedonian electricity production and its continued operation is essential for the country’s power supply, this feasibility study shall provide solutions how to extend the lifespan of TPP Oslomej. The modernization of TPP Oslomej shall make it fit to use imported hard coal while at the same time complying with current as well as upcoming environmental regulations. Especially with respect to a targeted EU-membership TPP Oslomej shall match the requirements of the “Large Coal Power Plant” (LCP) Directive of the EU.
The outcome of the study was that CFB technology would best match the project requirements.
