COLENCO at Energy Week Western Balkans 2026 Conference
Representatives of COLENCO participated in Energy Week Western Balkans 2026 Conference, held on 7–8 October in Montenegro, where in addition to attending various panel sessions and significant bilateral meetings, the CEO of COLENCO, Nikola Bitrak moderated the panel “Digitalisation, AI & Energy Systems – Hype vs Real Impact”.
The panel addressed a timely question for the region’s energy transition: how can artificial intelligence translate into measurable improvements in energy operations, investment decisions and system reliability. Its scope brought together practical applications of AI in renewable generation forecasting, electricity trading, battery storage optimisation and project development, alongside the importance of cybersecurity, reliable data and human oversight. These topics are increasingly relevant as the Western Balkans integrate more renewable energy, strengthen electricity networks and develop more interconnected markets.
The discussions during this panel reflect COLENCO’s established regional presence and experience across power systems, renewable energy, energy markets and project implementation. Working with utilities, public institutions, developers and international financial institutions enables COLENCO to connect emerging technologies with the technical, commercial and regulatory realities of delivering energy projects and frame AI adoption around practical value, investment credibility and the requirements of a secure and resilient energy system.
The two-day conference brought together high-level representatives of energy ministries and government institutions, regulatory authorities, transmission system operators, utilities and power exchanges, alongside international financial institutions, development agencies, banks, investors, renewable energy developers and technology providers.
COLENCO’s participation reinforces its commitment to supporting regional cooperation and the application of innovation to the Western Balkans’ energy transition.
