Fourteenth International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development – Skopje!
From 28–30 October 2025, Skopje proudly hosted the Fourteenth International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development, a global event that brought together over 500 participants from more than 70 countries. The Forum gathered leading experts, policymakers, and industry representatives to exchange knowledge, experiences, and innovative approaches for advancing the global energy transition and achieving a sustainable, clean-energy future.
The event provided a unique opportunity to discuss practical solutions and policy directions supporting the transformation of the energy sector towards greater efficiency, inclusiveness, and resilience.
We are pleased to share that Mr. Nikola Bitrak took part as a panelist in one of the Forum’s thematic sessions titled: “Data-driven energy planning and operations.” The session featured case studies and discussions focused on:
Smart grids, remote monitoring, and predictive maintenance
Digital mini-grid optimization in remote or crisis-affected regions
Data platforms to inform policy (e.g., dashboards).
Mr. Bitrak’s contribution highlighted the importance of leveraging digital tools and data analytics to enhance energy system planning and operations, supporting evidence-based policymaking and sustainable energy development.
Our sincere thanks go to the organisers — the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources of North Macedonia and UNDP North Macedonia — for their kind invitation and excellent organization, as well as to the five United Nations Regional Commissions:
United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) — for their continued leadership and collaboration in promoting sustainable development globally.
The Forum once again reaffirmed the importance of international cooperation, innovation, and data-driven solutions in building a sustainable energy future.
